Karen Goddard

Gold Coast artist Karen Goddard creates abstract and impressionistic artworks, influenced by brightly coloured florals and organic landscapes from Australia. Born, raised and educated in the UK, she explored several creative outlets growing up, becoming particularly fond of all creative pursuits, developing a fascination for textiles and fashion. Goddard has been taught by Julie Moolenschot, Margie Johnson and Marcell Lyon, learning the fundamentals of drawing, print making and painting, she was heavily influenced by the impressionists.

Favouring an impressionistic creative approach, Karen alternates between oils and acrylics in order to produce diverse compositional elements, imagery and texturisations. Later, in 2020, she began experimenting with various artistic methods and techniques, to counter the limitations imposed on her life during lockdowns. As a result of this exploration, her practice soon became influenced by the colourisations, innate shapes and minute details her environment. Persistently striving to produce a diverse body of work, her art is consistently emotive and highly symbolic and draws heavily from her sensory and psychological interpretations and experiences.
