I draw on the innate architecture of the banksia — its dense, honeyed blooms and simple shape — together with the wider language of the landscape, to create a rhythmic, almost musical reading of a fleeting moment in time, a joyful interpretation of the natural world around me

Gold Coast artist Karen Goddard creates abstract and impressionistic works inspired by brightly coloured florals and organic Australian landscapes. Working across acrylics and oils, her practice explores colour, movement, texture and the small details of the natural environment, resulting in emotive and highly expressive paintings.
