About the Artwork:

This Painting has all of my favourite things, old books, ladybirds and fruit. I love colour coordinating my vintage books into piles and then adding elements to the composition that will elevate the colour in the painting. The shiny apple and ladybirds just really saturate the canvas with bold reds and oranges. Lady birds are so peaceful and tiny, and every time I see them in the wild, my heart does a little dance.

About the Artist:

Madeleine is a contemporary Australian artist living and working in Melbourne, Victoria. She works mainly in acrylics and is a realist still life painter. Her use of colour and shadow create bold, highly detailed and photorealism compositions. Madeleine finds beauty in the more mundane things. She loves the challenge of making everyday items like shopping trolleys, milk crates and half eaten toast, seem like a masterpiece and something to be beholden. Madeleine paints the bubbles in a cup of coffee or crumbs on a tablecloth, with enough detail and colour, they jump off the canvas.
